Parks and Recreation Summer Camp Counselor

Job Description:

Supervised by Recreation Activities Coordinator
The Camp Buckeye Counselor is responsible for planning and leading programs while providing positive experiences for participants. They will also be responsible for the general safety, development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants. The incumbent will provide high quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences for participants. All Counselors must participate in five days of training before camp begins.
Responsibilities:
· Organize and lead a variety of group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, opening and closing procedures, swimming, canoeing. This includes time spent on a bus to and from field trips.
· Communicate with parents about participants’ experiences and report concerns to Camp Director.
· Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.
· Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.
· Exhibit personal habits, health, dress, speech, table etiquette and relationships with other staff that serve as a beneficial model to campers.
· Help guide Junior Counselors to have a deeper understanding of leadership and counseling skills.
· Learn all opening and closing procedures for recreation facility.

Job Description:

Seasonal position (40hrs/week) $16.10 per hour, April 1, 2023 through September 30, 2023- A Seasonal Maintenance Worker performs a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled manual labor tasks, equipment operation and other duties as required within the Public Works Department for roadside maintenance and street maintenance and roadside landscaping. Employees in this class perform a variety of semi‑skilled and unskilled manual labor tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, park facilities, and other Town facilities. Work involves serving as a member of Public Works crew. Duties include operating light to medium equipment; maintaining paved and gravel roads; installing and repairing street signs; collecting debris impeding traffic or pose a safety concern; cleaning culverts; making water and sewer taps; assisting in minor repair of equipment and vehicles; removing trees and trimming limbs, snow/leaf removal, and related tasks. Work is performed under regular supervision of Maintenance Crew Leader in accordance with specific instructions and within defined procedures. Town Hall Administrative Assistant

Job Description:

The Administrative Assistant for citizens and visitors entering Town Hall or any municipal facility. Emphasis of the work is on customer assistance by greeting visitors, answering telephone, taking and routing messages, processing work permits, processing accounts payable and accounts receivable. Work is evaluated on the basis of attainment of individual performance objectives, observation of work in progress, and feedback from other staff and the public.

Illustrative Examples of Work

• Serves as Administrative Assistant for Town Hall including serving the customers and citizens who visit the office; takes messages, forwards calls, and assists staff with visitors; distributes mail.
• Answers requests for information from customers or the general public who use the Town's services; identifies procedures that address needs or refer customer to proper staff member; follows-up with customers or other processes to insure proper disposition.
• Performs related office duties as required

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Thorough knowledge of standard office practices and procedures, equipment and secretarial techniques
• Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions and procedures

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

Work in this class is generally sedentary. Work requires the ability to see, hear, talk, and the physical ability to move about the office. Work requires dexterity in the hands for operation of standard office equipment. Visual acuity is necessary to read handwritten and typewritten materials and operate a basic computer terminal. Must be able to perform the basic life operational skills of climbing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion. Must be able to perform light work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
