Garbage Receptacle Information for Residents

Beech Mountain is home to a large population of black bears. As good stewards of our beautiful mountain town, it is incumbent among us to be more mindful and responsible with our solid waste. Residents are strongly encouraged to install a metal bin that is advertised as either bear resistant or bear proof. Dwellings shall have a twice weekly curb-side garbage pick-up.

Please post the bin’s “mailbox flag” (flip-up the flag) for crews to collect the refuse curb-side on your scheduled days of garbage collection. Solid waste bins are required per our Solid Waste Ordinance and specifications are described below. We would like our residents to continue to benefit from our curbside solid waste collections service for years to come, while preserving the natural beauty of our Town.  Unless you have a bear resistant/proof bin installed, please do not place garbage in your bin until the morning of your specified collection day.
