Sanitation Public Works Position

Job Description:  To control, collect and properly dispose of household and business refuse. Employees in this class operate a variety of garbage and refuse collection equipment including an automated back loading garbage truck, a back hoe, dump truck and wood chipper. Emphasis of the work is on operating a large vehicle to collect garbage in the town's residential and commercial districts. Work also includes performing one or more tasks normally associated with Sanitation Workers and other manual labor personnel as required including assisting other work crews in other divisions within the town. Work is supervised by the Sanitation Crew Leader and is evaluated on the basis of attaining performance objectives, safe operation of equipment, and completion of assigned route.
